CHALLENGEDue to the force of the current, a large section of the bridge over the Jacuí River collapsed. Studies commissioned by the DAER estimated 12 to 18 months as a feasible timetable to re-establish the connection.
SOLUTIONThe solution proposed by Aterpa MMartins, in a consortium with Construtora Cidade reduced the timetable to 6 months — including the preliminary hydrological study, demolition of the remainder of the structure, and removal of the debris. The fill and paving of the access points to the works were executed (approximately 400m). The flow section was re-sized, resulting in a increase of the bridge length from 327m to 423m, and shoulders were added.
